Scottie Scheffler will head into the Masters as the favorite once again, but it’s without the usual domination over the betting markets many have grown accustomed to.
Scheffler has +510 odds to win his third green jacket at Augusta National Golf Club this weekend, according to DraftKings odds as of Wednesday morning. While he is still the clear favorite, it’s a significant lengthening from his shortest point at +380 and even from the +440 he showed coming into Masters week.
Other sportsbooks have the 29-year-old with even longer odds, with BetMGM at +600 as of Wednesday morning. Scheffler’s pretournament odds stand to be his longest since 2023, when he was +700 coming off his first Masters victory the year prior.
Next on DraftKings’ odds board are Jon Rahm (+900) and Bryson DeChambeau (+1050), who have both played well with LIV Golf this season. Reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy is at +1175, a significant lengthening from the odds he had in the 500-range when the markets opened a year ago.
While Scheffler is still the leading ticket and handle attractor at all books reporting, his relatively short odds aren’t going to cause the sportsbooks much panic. Instead, DeChambeau has been the overwhelming public pick, making him the largest liability at BetMGM and giving him market-low odds of +800 at Caesars Sportsbook.
“DeChambeau, with all the social media and whatnot, really reins in the public, and he won the last two LIV tournaments,” Caesars lead golf trader Anthony Salleroli told ESPN. “I was surprised to see that Scheffler was still ahead of DeChambeau [by ticket count], albeit not by much, but just the public fascination with DeChambeau is great.”

McIlroy and Rahm, by contrast, have not been played in nearly as great of numbers, with McIlroy attracting the 12th-highest handle at BetMGM.
One player at slightly longer odds who has bettor intrigue is Brooks Koepka (37-1). The five-time major champion hasn’t played particularly well since his highly publicized return to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf, but bookmakers are well aware of his pedigree.
“The bettors certainly like him this week. He has been getting played, and this is one of the higher prices you’ll see him at,” DraftKings Sportsbook director Johnny Avello said. “Golf’s a funny game. Sometimes you’ll try to go back as a handicapper and you’ll look at past performances in the last couple of weeks or so and you’ll see guys that haven’t played well, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot because they can really turn it on in any given week.”
By contrast, 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed (42-1), who also notably left LIV this year, has been much less of a public play despite playing some great golf on the European tour. That said, he does have a positive handle-bets split with BetMGM.
Other popular picks include Ludvig Åberg (+1650), Cameron Young (22-1), Justin Rose (35-1) and Akshay Bhatia, who moved from 56-1 to 51-1 since Tuesday.
Between the diversified field and potentially dry conditions that could make Augusta National even trickier than usual, sportsbooks are bracing for any champion.
“Tons of parity out there,” Salleroli said. “It could be, not anybody’s game, but as close as we’ve seen in a while.”
That sentiment holds even truer with Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson not participating in the tournament for the first time since 1994. Avello mentioned that those legends are perennially popular as long shots, but bettors will be refunded on their picks from the yearlong market.
“I think at one time it was, ‘OK, let’s watch the Masters because we want to see Tiger Woods play and with a good chance of winning,'” Avello said. “Now, you’ve got all these guys who any one of them could win, even deeper than the top 12, so it’s a whole group of new guys now that carry the PGA Tour [betting].”
