ASU men’s basketball transfer portal departures and potential targets

With all postseason games now behind us, the men’s college basketball transfer portal officially opened Tuesday and players can enter until April 21.

New Arizona State coach Randy Bennett has begun filling out his staff that will help him navigate the roster construction period ahead of his first season in Tempe after spending the last 25 years leading Saint Mary’s.

Former Cal Baptist head coach Rick Croy and former Saint Mary’s associate coach Joe Rahon were officially named to the staff. Sun Devil Source’s Chris Karpman and ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported that David Patrick, an Australian coach who has spent the last two seasons as an associate coach at LSU, will also join the staff.

Croy and Patrick will serve as associate head coaches for the Sun Devils.

ASU has already secured one transfer addition of sorts, flipping the commitment of Croy’s son, from Saint Mary’s to ASU. JRob Croy is the No. 124 player in the 2026 class, per 247 Sports.

As for players the Sun Devils could pursue, keep an eye on the Saint Mary’s players in the portal, like All-WCC players Mikey Lewis and Paulius Murauskas, and all-freshman honoree Dillan Shaw.

Croy’s starting center for the final 13 games at Cal Baptist was Glendale Cactus High School product Bradey Henige, a 7-footer who is also taking a shot at the portal.

As for the transfers departing from former head coach Bobby Hurley’s 11th and final ASU roster, a few made their intentions clear ahead of the portal’s opening.

Others, like impact players Massamba Diop, Noah Meeusen and Santiago Trouet, have not yet indicated their plans.
