Angel Reese is off to Atlanta.
The Chicago Sky traded their star forward to the Atlanta Dream on Monday in exchange for two first-round draft picks.
“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Atlanta Dream organization,” Reese said. “I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream.”
The Sky selected Reese No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She was an All-Star in her first two seasons, averaging 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game across 64 regular season appearances and leading the WNBA in rebounding both seasons. Reese also led the league in double-doubles last season with 23.
“This trade is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties,” Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a press release.
“Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky,” Pagliocca said. “We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond. We wish Angel all the best in her next chapter.”
The Dream received a 2028 second-round pick swap along with Reese, while the Sky acquired the Dream’s 2027 and 2028 first-round draft picks. The Sky now have five first-round selections over the next three drafts, including the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 draft on Monday, April 13, via the Connecticut Sun.
Reese will now join a pair of talented guard in Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard with the Dream. Atlanta finished 2025 with the WNBA’s third-best record at 30-14 before falling to the Indiana Fever in the first round of the playoffs.
The Sky, meanwhile, are looking to the future after going 10-34 in 2025, tying the Dallas Wings for the worst record in the WNBA.
Chicago will open the 2026 season on Saturday, May 9, in the WNBA debut of the expansion Portland Fire. Reese and Atlanta will tip-off on Sunday, May 10, against the Minnesota Lynx.
