Taylor Bol Bowen seemed like a great fit for head coach Nate Oats’ offense when he transferred to Alabama from Florida State last offseason.
The 6-foot-10, 195-lb. forward had just connected no 41.4% of his three-pointers for the Seminoles, and expected to carry over that success with the Crimson Tide. Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Bol Bowen is entering the transfer portal for the second consecutive year. The rising senior played fewer minutes per game (19.0) as a junior at Alabama than he did as a sophomore with Florida State (25.0). A big reason why? His three-point percentage (30.2%) was 11.2% worse for the Crimson Tide than it was for the Seminoles in 2024-25.

Bol Bowen was the No. 73 recruit in 247Sports’ Composite rankings of the 2023 class. The Jericho, VT native chose Florida State over a host of SEC schools, including LSU, Georgia and Arkansas when in high school. He also received offers from Duke, Kansas and Houston throughout his initial recruiting process.
Alabama (25-10, 13-5 SEC) reached the Sweet Sixteen for the 5th time in 6 seasons under Oats this year. The Crimson Tide’s season felt like a whirlwind due to the ongoing eligibility discussion around Charles Bediako and off-court developments for Aden Holloway. Perhaps a deeper NCAA Tournament run will be on the horizon in 2026-27 once the program’s seas calm down.
The NCAA transfer portal will officially open on Tuesday.
