ROCHESTER, N.Y. — This weekend marks both Easter and the continuation of Passover. News10NBC has your guide to what’s happening this weekend around the Rochester area.

    Friday marks the second day of Passover, the Jewish holiday to celebrate the emancipation of the Hebrews from slavery in ancient Egypt. News10NBC recently stopped by Temple Beth El on Winton Road to speak with Rabbi Leonardo Bitran about the meaning of Passover to Rochester’s Jewish community.

    Easter celebrations

    Several groups in the Rochester area are holding upcoming Easter egg hunts, Easter Bunny visits, and other events ahead of Easter Sunday.

    Webster Public Library (Friday, April 3): There’s an Easter egg hunt happening inside the Webster Public Library on Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Afterwards, there will be spring crafts. No registration is required, and people are welcome to bring their own basket. Learn more here.

    Hilton Rotary Club (Saturday, April 4): The Hilton Rotary Club is holding an Easter egg hunt at the Hilton Parma Recreation Center on Saturday. It begins at 9 a.m., and families should arrive at least 15 minutes early. The egg hunt will be divided into several age groups: 4 and under, 5 to 8, and 9 to 10. In addition, there will be a petting zoo from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. For parents, a coffee truck will serve drinks from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Learn more here.

    Seneca Park Zoo (Saturday, April 4, and Sunday, April 5): The Seneca Park Zoo is holding a brunch with the Easter Bunny on Saturday and Sunday at the Trailside Cafe. There will be French toast sticks, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and fresh fruit, along with Bloody Marys and mimosas for adults. It runs from 9 to 11 a.m. on both days.     Railroad Museum (Saturday, April 4): The Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum in Rush is holding a visit with the Easter Bunny and train rides on Saturday.     Observing Passover

    Passover, the Jewish holiday honoring the emancipation of the Hebrews from slavery, continues on Friday and this weekend into next Thursday. Temple Beth El and other local synagogues are holding services for all eight days of Passover. Here’s the schedule for Temple Beth El:

    College women’s bowling regional championship

    Rochester is in the national spotlight this weekend as ABC Gates Bowl hosts the National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Regional Championships.

    The tournament began on Thursday and runs through Sunday. It features five of the nation’s top collegiate teams competing for a regional title and a spot at nationals in Cleveland.

    The event is hosted through a partnership with Roberts Wesleyan University and the NCAA. It marks the sixth straight year the championship has been held at the university. Organizers expect dozens of student-athletes, coaches, and fans to visit the area throughout the competition.

    MAG free admission for kids under 18

    The Memorial Art Gallery’s free admission for children under 18 continues through Sunday, with many children still off for spring break.

    Children can get into the museum for free when an accompanying adult buys a ticket through Sunday. The special offer began on Wednesday. You can get tickets here.

    At the museum, families can check out the new exhibit “Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden.” The exhibit highlights the work of African American artist John Rhoden and offers insights into his story and creativity. The exhibit will be open until Sunday, Aug. 23.
