Like I said yesterday, although you’re obviously going to push for a sweep where you can get it, a series win is a good outcome in almost all situations. That was definitely the case in this one against the Angels, and the Cubs were undoubtedly glad to win the rubber game heading into today’s off-day …
The weather was an assist, and I also think that’s an unimpressive Angels lineup, but how about the Cubs allowing just two runs in each game in the series? Pretty good week for the pitching staff, including Matthew Boyd yesterday, whose start we’ll get into more later. Hunter Harvey was the bridge guy, taking 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. Half of his 20 pitches were called strikes or whiffs, and the only damage he allowed came because of a routine grounder up the middle that just got out of reach of Dansby Swanson, and then another routine grounder to third base that Alex Bregman biffed. Harvey was basically perfect.Hunter Harvey has tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to begin his season with 3 strikeouts.Keeping him on the field this year will be huge for the Cubs and their bullpen’s success. pic.twitter.com/3879sYafl6

— Underdog MLB (@UnderdogMLB) April 1, 2026 This number is pretty BAD, especially in relation to the relatively huge numbers we’d otherwise been seeing for all things baseball:Yankees-Giants drew 3 million viewers on "Opening Night" on NetflixThat was the preliminary number, too, and this took a while to come out because Netflix kept thinking something was wrong with Nielsen on thisAlso, below 3.2 million NBC drew the next night for D'Backs-Dodgers
— Austin Karp (@AustinKarp) April 1, 2026 Feels like this says more about “baseball on Netflix” than it does about “baseball,” especially given how rough the broadcast was. Who knew that you can’t just cram a bunch of nonsequitur interviews and promotion slop for your other shows into 3 hours of your first baseball broadcast and expect people to watch?
