The police probe into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s links to the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein is growing after prosecutors said they are “providing early investigative advice” to officers.
Prosecutors are “providing early investigative advice” to police carrying out inquiries into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s links to Jeffrey Epstein.
Thames Valley Police said they were examining if the former prince – who was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and later released – shared confidential reports from his role as a government trade envoy with the disgraced financier.
The force previously said they were reviewing allegations that Epstein provided Mountbatten-Windsor with a woman to have sex with at Royal Lodge in 2010.
Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is also advising police with their inquiries into Lord Peter Mandelson, who was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office in relation to his links to Epstein. Mandelson has previously denied any wrongdoing.
A CPS spokesperson said: “We can confirm that we are now providing early investigative advice to the Metropolitan Police Service regarding the force’s investigation into a 72-year-old man and will continue to liaise as requested.
“We can now also confirm that we are providing early investigative advice to Thames Valley Police in relation to a 66-year-old man.
“We remain ready to support any investigation if needed.”
