There’s a lot of excitement surrounding Year 1 of the Lane Kiffin era at LSU, but Tiger fans will have to be patient to see the Bayou Bengals in game action under the new head coach. When speaking to the media on Tuesday, Kiffin explained that he’s no longer in favor of holding spring games.
“I just stopped the spring game a few years ago,” Kiffin said, per TigerDroppings.

“At one point, it was on TV, so you are giving team film away, but then there was another portal coming too, so you’re basically giving people an evaluation of your players, especially your newer ones, and how they’re doing.
“And then it became a financial piece, with how much you’re investing in the players and how significant injuries are, and looking at the big picture of that. Just feel like it’s not worth it.
“It’s no different than the NFL… in the middle of the spring, they don’t have a tackling scrimmage.”
With no spring game, LSU fans will have to wait until Sept. 5 to see Kiffin’s team in game action. The Bayou Bengals start off the season with a bang, hosting Clemson in Tiger Stadium for another “Death Valley” battle.
