ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Red Wings have canceled their home opener against the Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre RailRiders that was slated for 4:05 p.m.
Fans still wait out the rain
Although the forecast called for bad weather, many fans still waited it out at ESL Ballpark. News10NBC Sports Reporter Ian Mills spoke with numerous fans who were waiting it out, many of them still hoping the team would play.

News10NBC’s Kristi Blake went to ESL Ballpark Tuesday morning to see how the Red Wings franchise geared up for opening day. Mason hoped Tuesday morning the rain would hold off until after the game, but still prepared for the rain.
Mason said the home opener takes months of planning and he’s excited to welcome back fans.
“I still get butterflies every opening day. This is one of the most special and fun games of the year, every year. It’s a sign that spring is finally here, especially after a rough winter like we had,” he said.
