ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Threat Tracker is Yellow for Tuesday as heavy rain and strong to severe storms will be possible across the region. Before the weather goes downhill, we have a decent day to start the week. Monday will bring mostly cloudy skies and mild weather with temps into the 60s this afternoon. Winds will be gusty later today with a few showers arriving late afternoon and early evening.
Tuesday Yellow Alert is for a combination of issues. The main concern will be for a few rounds of heavy rain and possible local flooding. Rainfall totals between 1 and 2 inches is likely with locally higher amounts possible, mainly south of Rochester. On top of the flood threat some thunderstorms will develop and may turn strong to severe with gusty winds, lightning and hail. A few downpours overnight into Tuesday morning and then again later Tuesday afternoon into the night. Temps will range from the 50s near the lake to upper 60s and low 70s south of the Thruway.
Weather turns much cooler Wednesday and Thursday with more showers likely. Unsettled weather continues Friday into the weekend with warming temperatures later this week into the weekend. Temps should be back near or over 60 degrees Friday and Saturday. Looking ahead to Easter Sunday we need to watch an approaching cold front. Showers will be on the increase and depending on the timing of the front we may see one more warm day, or temps will start to drop during the day.
