Beloved Grammy-Winning Band Drops First New Music in Nearly 10 Years

After almost a decade away, the beloved music group The Band Perry is back and welcoming a new era of sound. The band returned with their latest single titled “Psychological,” which came out on Feb. 13.

It's The Band Perry's first new song since 2019's "Nite Swim," and it heralds what lead singer Kimberly Perry calls “Season Two” of the group’s career. In a big change from the original lineup consisting of the Perry siblings, the group now includes Kimberly and her husband, Johnny Costello.

The band originally broke onto the country scene in the late 2000s with a string of hits, including the No. 1 classic “If I Die Young,” that made them one of the genre’s most popular acts. They earned multiple hit singles and other accolades, including a Grammy Award and several Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards.

After The Band Perry's initial success, they experimented with pop music in the mid‑2010s and eventually went on hiatus in 2023 as the members decided to pursue solo projects and other endeavors. Kimberly released her own EP, Bloom, and her first solo album, Superbloom, in 2023.

One of Kimberly's brothers, Neil Perry, decided not to return with The Band Perry in 2025, and while her other brother, Reid, initially came back to the group, he announced his official departure in October 2025.

In an interview with People, Kimberly addressed the new era for The Band Perry, saying, "There's a lot of changes that our band has had over the years... but one thing that's always remained the same, [is] this has been a family band rooted in the Appalachian Mountains in East Tennessee."

She also shared that Reid is currently working in artist management, while Neil is working on "solo work," as Kimberly described it, sharing no other details.

As for what fans of The Band Perry can expect from the new iteration of the group, Kimberly told the publication that the band's new music is "something that feels relevant and cool and perfectly seated in 2026 in country music."
