ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A garage fire spread to multiple structures on Murray Street Saturday afternoon.
The Rochester Fire Department responded to Murray Street at approximately 12:53 p.m. for reports of a structure fire. Multiple callers reported a garage fire with visible flames, with additional information indicating that the fire was spreading to nearby structures.
Engine 5 arrived on scene within minutes and quickly confirmed a working fire, with a fully involved garage and fire extending to adjacent garages. Fire crews immediately initiated an aggressive attack, securing a water supply and deploying multiple handlines to contain the fire.
Due to the close proximity of structures and rapid fire spread, additional resources were requested to assist with suppression and exposure protection. At the height of the incident, a total of three garages were involved in fire.
Through coordinated efforts, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes, preventing further extension to nearby residences. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
No residents were displaced as a result of this incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Rochester Fire Department Fire Investigation Unit.
