For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Zach Parent from Wilbraham, Massachusetts has announced his commitment to Villanova beginning in fall 2026. Parent flips his commitment after previously committing to Alabama alongside his twin brother Alex Parent. Alex flipped his commitment to Virginia Tech in the fall.
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Villanova University! I want to thank my family, friends, team, and coaches. I also want to thank the Men’s Swim and Dive team as well as the coaches at Villanova for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to starting this new journey! GO CATS “
Parent swims for Sunrise Swim Club. Back in December, he swam to two best times at Winter Juniors-East. His highest finish came in the 200 fly where he swam a lifetime best 1:49.57. He also swam a lifetime best 4:33.26 500 free for 60th and a season best 1:41.09 in the 200 free.
He is finishing up his senior year at Minnechaug Reg High School. Just last month at the Massachusetts Division I State Championships, he finished 2nd in the 200 free in a lifetime best 1:40.17 as well as 4th in the 100 fly in a lifetime best 51.51. He also helped the school’s 400 free relay to a state title leading off in a lifetime best 47.83.
Parent’s Best SCY Times Are:
1650 free: 15:40.77 200 fly: 1:49.57 200 free: 1:40.17 400 IM: 4:01.27The Villanova men finished 3rd out of five teams at the 2026 Big East Championships. The team was led by Justin Nowicki who scored 53 individual points including a conference title in the 400 IM as he won in a 3:47.65.
Based on his best times, Parent has the potential to make an immediate impact at the conference level. His best time in the 1650 free would have been 5th this past season and would have finished right ahead of Villanova’s Owen Nye who swam to a 15:42.88. Nye just finished his sophomore season so the two will have the chance to train alongside on another for two seasons. Parent’s best time in the 200 fly would be on the border of the Big East ‘A’ and ‘B’ final.
Parent will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Liam Mac Colla, Daxs Schoenbeck, Harrison Short, Jackson Cooper, Michael Yuen, and Carter Kobielski. If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
