Demir Ayrikaya of Istanbul, Turkey has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Boston College beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

First of all, I would like to thank Coach Dara and Coach Bruno for giving me this opportunity. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my family and to my coaches Kutluhan Korkmaz and Boran Erdugan for helping me reach where I am today. Their support, guidance, and belief in me have always meant so much. #ForBoston Go Eagles!”
Last May, Ayrikaya swam to numerous best times at the Turkish National Team Selection Meet. There he was highlighted by a 5th place finish in the 200 free with a lifetime best 1:52.66. He also swam to a personal best 4:01.56 in the 400 free for 6th. He was 12th in the 100 free during prelims with a 53.09.
During June and July, he swam for Bolles School Sharks out of Jacksonville, Florida. He raced in two meets with the club.
Ayrikaya’s Best LCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:
400/500 free: 4:01.56 (4:30.65) 200 free: 1:52.66 (1:38.61) 100 free: 51.76 (45.18)The Boston College men finished 15th out of 15 teams at the 2026 ACC Championships. The team scored 112 points to finish just 26 points behind 14th place Duke.
Based on his best times Ayrikaya, is a strong pick up for the team’s relays. His best converted time in the 200 free would have been faster than two of the splits on the team’s 800 free relay this past year at ACCs, and sat at #2 on the roster overall. His best converted time in the 400/500 free would have been 4th on the roster this past season. Rising sophomore Palmer Bice led the team in the 200 free this year with a 1:37.89, so the two will overlap for three seasons.
Ayrikaya will arrive this fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Parris Garvin, Quincy Topping, Michael Zhou, Julien Lee, Peyton Harrison, and Austin Ross.
