ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Americans shared the spotlight with some hometown heroes.
The Rochester Police Department hockey team took on the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office jail team at Blue Cross Arena for an exhibition game. The two typically friendly factions finally got the chance to let everything go.
The local SWAT team participated by delivering the puck, entering from the rafters.
“There is some bad blood between those sides, off the ice their fine, but when the jerseys come off, their wearing different uniforms, it doesn’t go well,” an official said.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office took home the win, 11 to eight. But they weren’t done just yet.
The Sheriff’s Office and Rochester firefighters ditched the sticks to have a relay race on the ice.
