After the Blackhawks got boat raced out of Philadelphia, the hope was that there would be a better effort tonight against a terrible Rangers team. And the opening few minutes provided some optimism that there was a spark there. But that was not the case. The game was tied after 20 minutes.
Here’s my summary of the Blackhawks’ second period performance:
After 40 minutes against one of the two teams between the Blackhawks and the NHL cellar (at least before this game started), the Hawks had allowed 50 shot attempts, 31 shots and 16 high danger chances. The Blackhawks generated seven shot attempts in the second period. They didn’t do much of anything in the third period, either, and lost by five to a terrible, bad Rangers team.
Star 1: Nick Lardis
When the Blackhawks actually had some offense going in the first period, Lardis scored for the third time in four games to give the Hawks the lead. It came off a nice give-and-go between Frank Nazar and Alex Vlasic that finished with Tyler Bertuzzi setting up Lardis for the tap-in goal.

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) March 27, 2026Star 2: Anton Frondell
The analytics said the Blackhawks’ top line was on the ice for a lot of Rangers’ offensive action, but there were a lot of moments from Frondell that I liked. He played the entire sheet hard, he came out hitting people and he was trying to turn pucks over. In the first period, a forced turnover led to a Connor Bedard scoring chance in the first period. For a young guy playing his third NHL game — in four days after being eliminated from the SHL playoffs six days ago — he continues to impress.

At the end of two periods, Boisvert had the best on-ice expected goals for percentage on the Blackhawks, which would be encouraging if the number wasn’t 32.56 percent… In the third period, after a couple heavy hits on his teammates, Boisvert dropped the gloves with Will Borgen for his first NHL fight. He had two hits and won four of eight faceoffs.

Landon Slaggert had one of the better scoring chances for either side in the first period but Dylan Garand made a really nice save. Slaggert had a really good night in his limited role. Sam Rinzel probably tried to do too much with the puck on the Rangers’ second goal. Just get it out of the dangerous areas. Ethan Del Mastro pinched and got caught flat footed on the Rangers’ third goal. I could continue picking out individual moments that sucked, but life is too short. This one goes in the “wipe twice and flush” category. On to Sunday against the Devils.Hence then, the article about blackhawks 1 rangers 6 three stars key takeaways was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
