Tiger Woods has been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) after he was involved in a rollover car crash in Florida, authorities have confirmed.
Martin County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately release details about the cause of the crash. One person was reported to be in a stable condition, while another declined to be taken to hospital.
The crash occurred just after 2pm local time (6pm GMT) in Jupiter Island, where Woods lives.
Donald Trump paid tribute to Woods after the crash, saying he feels “so badly” after hearing about it.
The US president described the sports star as a “very close friend of mine, but said he didn’t want to talk about the collision.
“I feel so badly,” he said.
“He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident, and that’s all I know.
“Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person.
“Amazing man. But, some difficulty. I don’t want to talk about it.”
In February 2021, Woods suffered “multiple open fractures” to his right leg in a car crash in Los Angeles.
That crash had also been described as a “rollover”, meaning a collision in which the vehicle is flipped over.
Authorities said Woods, 50, had been driving at least twice the speed limit in a 45mph zone at the time of the accident.
His vehicle – a Genesis GV80 SUV – struck a tree before flying through the air and landing on its side.

Investigators were criticised for failing to get a search warrant for the golfer’s blood samples, which would have detected evidence he had been drinking alcohol or taking drugs.
In November 2009, the golfer crashed his SUV outside his house in Florida, colliding with a a fire hydrant and a tree.
His then wife, Elin Nordegren, used a golf club to smash a window of his vehicle to get him out, before he was taken to the hospital suffering from injuries, initially described as serious, and later released.
