Day one of the Sweet 16 brought out some of the biggest names in the 2026 NBA Draft, all fighting not just to win, but to boost their stock. Most showed up, some didn’t—but the overall takeaway hasn’t changed. The 2026 NBA Draft is still looking stacked.
Let’s get into some of the performances from Thursday night and how they might impact players’ stock in the 2026 NBA Draft.
2026 NBA Draft Prospects — Stock Up
Brayden Burries, G, Arizona
Even though, on paper, the number one seed Arizona was expected to steamroll anyone in their path, it wasn’t supposed to look this easy against Arkansas. A 21-point win over the hottest offensive player in the country? Arizona needed their stars to show up, and they did.
Bryaden Burries led the way with a team-high 23 points, doing it the way he knows best: efficiently, and in a way that translates directly to wins. He shot 7-of-11 from the field and 50% from beyond the arc, pushing his NCAA Tournament averages to 19 points and 6 rebounds on 64% shooting overall and a scorching 75% from three.
The way his shot is falling right now, Arizona might just go all the way, and Burries is making a serious climb into that top ten, with no one looking ready to stop him.

It took until the Sweet 16 for projected 2026 NBA Draft lottery pick Koa Peat to deliver his best performance of the tournament—but it was worth the wait. In Arizona’s dominant win over Arkansas, it wasn’t just Brayden Burries carrying the offensive load—Peat was right there with him.
Koa finished with 21 points, doing it on even better efficiency than Burries. But the concern with his game still lingers. I’m not fully convinced his skill set translates cleanly to the NBA. He doesn’t have a three-point shot, and he’s not exactly a standout rebounder or defender. Most of his scoring comes inside the paint, and at 6’8″, he’s somewhat undersized for a forward at the next level. But he is a very impressive athlete.
That said, last night was a clear display of how effective he can be, efficient, controlled, and able to get his points whenever he wants. Still, I’m not sure how much it actually moved the needle for his draft stock.

You might not expect a 16-seed to make a Cinderella run in modern college basketball, but this Iowa Hawkeyes team is shattering every expectation. After taking down higher-seeded Clemson in the first round and the one-seeded, reigning NCAA champions Florida in round two, they kept it rolling last night, beating four-seeded Nebraska in yet another tight game.
At the center of it all is Bennett Stirtz, a guard who mad the come-up from D-II to the Elite 8, projected as a first-round pick, known for controlling the game at his own pace and running an offense that just works. Last night, he delivered his best performance of the tournament: 20 points, 4 assists, and a 57% effective field goal percentage.
He’s not just defying the odds, he’s doing it while playing all 40 minutes every night, showcasing endurance, offensive skill, and a true winning mentality. At this point, it wouldn’t be surprising if his tournament run pushes him closer to the lottery rather than the back end of the first round in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Chris Cenac Jr. , F, Houston
Being the higher seed, favored to win, and playing at home, you would’ve expected a much better performance than what the Houston Cougars put up last night. Losing by double digits and not even cracking 60 points is the kind of game that gets fingers pointed real quick.
Yes, Houston’s main strength is their defense, but their offense can’t look this bad.
Chris Cenac Jr. is the one who probably took the biggest hit to his 2026 NBA Draft stock. A player who showed enough flashes during the season to be viewed as a worthwhile project ended his tournament run with just 6 points on 3-of-12 shooting and 0-of-3 from beyond the arc. He did pull down a team-high 10 rebounds, but with how poorly both teams were shooting, there were plenty of chances to clean up misses.
I don’t know how much this game truly changes where he’ll be picked, since his evaluation has always been tied to his potential. But one thing’s clear, it didn’t do him any favors heading into the 2026 NBA Draft.
Houston freshman power forward Chris Cenac Jr. says he will sit down with his family in the coming days and decide what's next for him. And whether that is the NBA or a return to UH.
