The release also stated that the two surviving passengers were transported to the Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue for treatment. There is no update to their status as of publication.
The area where the helicopter was flying to is a very remote part of the island Kauaʻi Mayor, Derek Kawakami told KHON2 News, making the rescue incredibly difficult.

"This issue has only increased in recent years, and has reverberated as well in the state legislature, county councils, and many of the local neighborhood boards."
