Iconic 80s Boy Band Impresses With Amazing Live Performance

New Edition continues to impress with their longevity after nearly five decades in music.

The iconic boy band—which formed in 1978 in their hometown of Boston, Mass., and charted their very first No. 1 R&B hit with their 1983 debut, "Candy Girl"—is still treating fans to the "best concert they've ever been to," and let longtime supporters tell it, they've still not skipped a beat, even after all these years.

A glorious concert comeback for the R&B ensemble, The New Edition Way Tour comprises all six members: Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill (who joined in 1987 to replace Brown, at the time).

Dressed to impress in matching all-white ensembles, later switching to coordinating powder blue suits and sparkly black 'fits, they've put their enduring talent and timeless moves on full display at each show—and the sold-out Washington, D.C. stop was no different.

Alongside Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton, the group delivered nothing short of an epic show while performing at the city's Capital One Arena on Friday, March 13.

The musical collective took fans through their catalog of legendary songs, including "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," "Telephone Man," "Can You Stand the Rain," "If It Isn't Love," "You're Not My Kind of Girl," "N.E. Heart Break," and more. And it didn't stop there. They also stunned with solo hits: Gill's "My, My, My," Tresvant's "Sensitivity," Bel Biv DeVoe's "Poison" and "Do Me Baby," and Brown's "Tenderoni" and "Don't Be Cruel."

Boyz II Men—discovered by NE's Bivins in 1989 after they caught him backstage as teens and impressed him with their voices—also brought fans to their feet, belting out soulful renditions of their hits "Motown Philly," "End of the Road," "I'll Make Love to You," and more.

Not to be left out, Braxton gripped the crowd with her deep, smooth vocals and sultry displays of "Un-Break My Heart," "Breathe Again," "He Wasn't Man Enough," "Just Be a Man About It," and "Long As I Live."

One aspect that particularly left a lasting impression is the unique way in which the show was curated: the trio of acts was woven in seamlessly, alternating hit for hit.

The New Edition Way Tour kicked off on Jan. 28 in Oakland, Calif. Now on the tail end of the concert series, the tour is slated to wrap up next week on Saturday, April 4, when they hit Houston, Tex. to perform their final presentation at Toyota Center. Based on the overwhelming fan response, though, it won't be their last time on the road.
