Mac Wheeler of Stockton, California has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Nevada beginning in fall 2027.
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Nevada Reno! I would like to thank my family, friends, and amazing teammates for their continuous support throughout this journey! I would also like to thank Coach Nate and Coach Angel for shaping me into the swimmer I am today! Special thank you to Coach Adriana and Coach Brendon for this amazing opportunity! I can’t wait to join the Pack!”
Wheeler swims for Tiger Aquatics out of Stockton, CA and has had as strong winter season so far, posting lifetime bests in numerous events. At the end of January, she swam to a lifetime best 51.65 in the 100 free. At the start of December, she swam a lifetime best in the 50 free with a 23.50 at the FAST Winter Lights meet.
She is currently a junior at Lincoln high School. Last May at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship, she finished 5th in the 100 free (51.67) and 4th in the 100 back (58.51).
Wheeler’s Best SCY Times Are:
50 free: 23.50 100 free: 51.65 100 fly: 55.95The Nevada women finished 5th out of 11 teams at the 2026 Mountain West Championships with 861.5 points. They were just behind 4th place Fresno State who scored 913 points. The Nevada women were led by Scarlett Ferris who scored 87 individual points and won the 100 fly in a 51.34 and the 100 back in a 51.07.
Based on her best times, Wheeler is just off what it took to final as it took a 23.36 in the 50 free, a 50.98 in the 100 free, and a 54.92 in the 100 fly. Ferris was the team’s only ‘A’ finalist in the 50 free and 100 fly while they did not have any ‘A’ finalists in the 100 free.
Wheeler will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031. She is the first public commitment for the class.
