Reduction in need of all-rounders: The players have argued, that the rule reduces the need for an all-rounder in the team, and only specialists get picked.

Introduced in 2023, the rule is here to stay until 2027, which will mark the completion of a 5-year circle. Apart from that, there might not be any immediate change to it; but as per a report in Cricbuzz, the BCCI is all set to discuss the impact sub rule at the IPL captains meet. What else will be discussed at IPL captains meet?
At the IPL captain’s meet, the BCCI will talk about the rule changes (if any), with the respective skippers, and also the code of conduct rules. Apart from the Impact sub rule, also up for discussion would be — the innings timer (60-second clock), and the concussion substitute clause.
Also, there will be discussions about the two-bouncer rule, bat checks, ball replacement, use of saliva and the retired-out provision. BCCI heads for match referees and umpires, Javagal Srinath and Nitin Menon will also address the captains, in a meeting that is scheduled to take place between 4.30 PM to 6 PM IST.
Meanwhile, a few playing conditions have been revised by the BCCI, and the same have been shared already with all the teams. There have been changes pertaining to Rule 4.4 (change of ball in the second innings); 5.8.3 (bat checks); 18.5.1 and 18.5.2 (deliberate short runs); 19.5.2 (fielder grounded beyond the boundary); 28.7.6 (restriction on the placement of the fielder); and Appendix D-3.9 (combining umpire review with player review).
