I love the spring, not because it means warm weather is upon us, but because it means baseball is back! Spring to me means freshly mowed outfields, perfectly drawn straight white lines from home-to-first base-to-second-to-third and back home again. I would subscribe to MLB.tv's streaming package, but if you live in your favorite team's city, your home games are likely blacked out due to broadcast rights and restrictions. So if a Dodger fan can't watch a Dodger game on a baseball subscription service, why subscribe? I'm better off going to my local sports bar.
Broadcast rights for Major League Baseball are spread all over the place: TBS has rights to Tuesday games, Fox has rights to some of the weekend games, and NBC just signed a three-year deal with MLB to broadcast games on NBC/Peacock. When is Opening Day?
Opening Day this year is technically Opening Night and will take place on the evening of Wednesday, March 25 with a game between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park in San Francisco, CA. The traditional Opening Day will happen on Thursday, March 26 with games taking place at stadiums across the country.
