The Historic Bama Theatre will host a concert tribute with Michael Jackson impersonator Daniel Andrews on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The tribute is a part of the TuscArts Onstage 2025-26 season, with performances and live entertainment from different genres at the Historic Bama Theatre.
Hannah Hall, the manager of the Historic Bama Theatre, said with “Michael,” the new movie about Jackson coming out soon, the live concert tribute would be a good “pull and tie” within a close timeframe.
Prior to this year, Hall handled contracts, negotiations and planning for all events held at the Bama Theatre, which were operated as rentals. She wanted to shift that model to do a year-long performing arts season, which helped create the TuscArts Onstage season.
The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa states the concert pays tribute to “the life and legacy of The King of Pop.” The concert is for all ages and performs songs throughout Jackson’s musical career, with a live band, high energy and advanced lighting to resemble the nostalgia of his worldwide concerts.
“It’s always a worthwhile experience. Michael Jackson is the King of Pop. He’s one of the greatest artists to ever live,” said Nicholas Finch, Bama Theatre communications and design specialist. “Anytime you have a chance to see anything close to Michael Jackson live, that’s an opportunity you have to take advantage of.”
Booshae Thompson, a junior majoring in creative media, said he hopes to see songs that aren’t talked about enough from Jackson’s early career like “Ben,” “One Day In Your Life” or “With A Child’s Heart.” He also said he’d like to see a replica of the classics in the concert where Jackson did the first moonwalk to songs like “Billie Jean.”
“I don’t mind a lot of the dances as long as they end with a good song,” Thompson said. “I feel like these were songs he gave to the world with a real message.”
Tickets for the concert range from $53 to $74.50 and are available on The Arts of Council of Tuscaloosa website.
