I love my kids, but I hate playing with them. This predicament is more acute since the pandemic struck. My husband and I are suddenly our children’s sole playmates, but releasing ourselves from the confines of reality into the fantastical world of play feels more impossible than ever. Luckily, Aaron, a fun-loving father with a goofy sense of humor, is a natural when it comes to immersing himself in whatever activity our three children ages 3, 6 and 8 engage him in. He’s even a wiz at making up his own spur-of-the-moment games, ones that often make no sense to me but elicit squeals of delight from our little ones.
