In an interview with Bill Buckmaster and Arizona Daily Star columnist Tim Steller on KVOI AM 1030’s Bill Buckmaster Show, Nanos explained that he's "not the investigator at all on this case," saying that he has a "very qualified team" leading the investigation and he is in "charge of the department" who is investigating the case. When he was asked if he believes that the investigators will solve the case, he replied, "I believe we will, yes. I have full faith in my team's ability," Nanos said. "There's just a lot going on."
When Nanos was asked if the Guthrie case was cold, he didn't hesitate to say, "not even close."
Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities believe that she may have been abducted from her home in the middle of the night. Despite receiving thousands of leads, investigators have yet to I.D. a suspect.
In early March, Parade got some insight from former FBI Special Agent Greg Rogers who also said that he doesn't feel as though the case is cold.
"Although the number of FBI agents dedicated has lessened as leads have decreased and there is no current need for tactical teams, there are still a good number of agents who will remain assigned to this case until it’s resolved. That includes tech agents that are concentrating on digital forensics like cell tower searches," Rogers said.
