Authorities have publicly identified four people who lost their lives this week to San Diego-area traffic accidents.

The most recent of the roadway fatalities took place about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, when 18-year-old Alexander Charmoli of Apache Junction, Arizona, got into a collision with a car while riding a motorcycle to the south on Interstate 805 near Eastgate Mall in University City, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office. Paramedics took Charmoli to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Two days earlier, a collision in Coronado left a 78-year-old bicyclist dead. James Berta, a resident of the peninsula city just west of downtown San Diego, got into a collision with an SUV at the intersection of state Route 75 and Tulagi Road at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the county agency reported. Berta died at the site of the crash.

On Monday morning, a traffic accident fatally injured a pedestrian in his East County hometown. Antonio Boccia, 78, was hit by a vehicle in the 10000 block of Challenge Boulevard in La Mesa, leaving him with severe blunt-force trauma, officials said. An ambulance crew took him to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 a.m. that day.

About 5 p.m. Sunday, 33-year-old Guillermo Hernandez of Valley Center was driving through that rural northern San Diego-area community when his pickup truck veered into the path of an oncoming sedan, the medical examiner reported. The resulting collision left Hernandez dead at the scene. Also fatally injured in the wreck was a passenger in the car, identified by the county agency earlier this week as 75-year-old Grace Parsons of Encinitas.
