A widely discussed theory about the man seen outside Nancy Guthrie’s home is now being called into question. In a new interview, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos pushed back on speculation that images of the so-called "porch guy" were taken on different days, saying there is no evidence to support that claim. As debate over the photos continues online, he emphasized that anything beyond what authorities have confirmed remains unverified.
"Remember the photo we gave of the man at the front door with the backpack on? There's another photo of him without the backpack on. It was released the same day we released it all. And people speculated that they're two different times and two different days. It went crazy," Nanos said in an interview with Bill Buckmaster and Arizona Daily Star columnist Tim Steller on KVOI AM 1030's Bill Buckmaster Show.
"We have nothing in front of us—there's no time or date stamp on the photos—that says those photos were taken at two different times," Nanos continued. "So, it would be irresponsible for me to say 'yes, we think there were two different photos on two different days.'"

Nanos said anything else out there about the photos is "all speculation."
This is the second time that the Pima County Sheriff's Department has attempted to set the record straight about the images. Back on Feb. 23, the department released the following statement on social media.
"We are aware that doorbell images released earlier in the investigation depict a suspect in different stages of attire, including with and without a backpack. There is no date or time stamp associated with these images. Therefore, any suggestion that the photographs were taken on different days is purely speculative."
Nevertheless, there have been reports from "sources" that the pictures were taken at different times due to subtle differences. Aside from one still image showing the perp with a backpack and another photo without, some believe that the individual appears to be wearing different sneakers, isn't carrying a gun, and might even be wearing a different mask (or perhaps the mask is on backwards, as his eyes and mouth aren't visible).
