Three people were arrested in connection with a robbery last year at the Massachusetts Avenue Transit Center in Lemon Grove, authorities reported Friday.
Detectives from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff’s Station, in cooperation with East County Gang Street Team and Special Enforcement Detail, served a search warrant Thursday at a residence in the 5500 block of Morro Way, in La Mesa, where suspects Sedrick Lipscomb, 24, and a juvenile were taken into custody for their alleged roles in the October 2025 robbery. Surveillance video assisted law enforcement in identifying the suspects.
Demetrius Lipscomb, 27, later identified as the third suspect was also arrested, although he was already in custody on an unrelated case, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the robbery happened when the unidentified victim agreed to meet up with the three suspects for reasons unknown at the station, where they allegedly pulled out knives and demanded a backpack, cell phone and wallet.
A loaded handgun stored within close proximity to children was also recovered during a search of the La Mesa home, the sheriff’s office noted.
Sedrick was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon and child endangerment.
Demetrius was arrested on suspicion of robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The juvenile was taken into custody on suspicion of robbery and booked into Juvenile Hall.
It was unclear how the parties involved were related.
