PENN YAN, N.Y. — The Yates County Office Building is set to recount the votes on Friday in a tight mayoral race for the Village of Penn Yan.
Just three votes separate the leader based on the count after Tuesday’s election. Patricia Christensen got 179 votes, while incumbent Mayor Dan Condella got 176. Former mayor Leigh MacKerchar finished with 153 votes, and Daniel Irwin got 37.
This isn’t the first narrow race for Penn Yan. In 2022, Mayor Condella won the election by just three votes over MacKerchar. Check back for updates on the recount.
