MAMARONECK, N.Y. — A New York State Police trooper was hurt early Sunday morning when he was hit by a car during a traffic stop.
NYSP says an SUV crashed into the stopped patrol car, which crashed into the parked car that was pulled over. That was the car that hit the trooper.
Troopers say the crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. on March 15 in the Town of Mamaroneck, which is east of Yonkers. Two troopers pulled over a Mercedes sedan along the right shoulder of the Thruway.
Troopers were standing near the Mercedes when a they say a Chevy Suburban, driven by 24-year-old Kevin Ariel Cunache Moyolema of Connecticut, rear-ended the patrol car.
The trooper hit was brought to Westchester Medical Center with minor injuries and later released. The other trooper didn’t get hit.
Moyolema was taken to Westchester Medical Center for minor body pain evaluation.
The investigation is ongoing.
