Four years on from his last series, Marriage, writer Stefan Golaszewski has returned with a new series Babies - and the release date has now been confirmed.

The first episode of the six-part drama will air on BBC One at 9pm on Monday 30 March, with the second episode airing at the same time the next day, Tuesday 31 March. The full series will also be available to stream on BBC iPlayer from Monday 30 March at 6am.

A trailer for the series, which stars Siobhán Cullen (Bodkin), Paapa Essiedu (The Capture), Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) and Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), has also been released.

The trailer shows us the heartbreaking journey that Cullen's character Lisa and Essiedu's character Stephen go on, as their dream of becoming parents is tested when they endure multiple miscarriages.

The synopsis for the series, described as a "tender yet urgent love story", says that while confronting "unimaginable grief", Lisa and Stephen's "bond shines through with humour, warmth, and unwavering commitment".

Riley and Bannon play Amanda and Dave, a new couple navigating their own challenges and testing their compatibility. Their complex relationship, set against Lisa and Stephen’s ongoing pregnancy journey, begins to expose cracks in Stephen and Dave’s long-standing friendship.

As well as Marriage, Golaszewski has also been behind the hit shows Him & Her and Mum, which ran for four seasons and three seasons respectively.

Essiedu will soon be seen starring in HBO's Harry Potter TV series, in which he is playing Severus Snape, alongside a cast including John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost and Katherine Parkinson.
