ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Women’s Empowering Women Conference is set to take place tomorrow at the Hyatt ballroom in downtown Rochester. Nearly 500 women from various industries are expected to attend the event.
This year marks the eighth anniversary of the conference organized by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce. Susan George, the event director, said her team aimed to create a unique experience for Women’s History Month. The conference started with about 120 attendees eight years ago and has grown steadily, offering women at all professional levels in business opportunities to network and share experiences.
“What we want to provide as a chamber is a space to be able to interact, share each other’s struggles, to know you’re not on your own,” said George. “You’re here together. If there might be somebody that you connect with at the conference that could help you in your entrepreneurship, help you with a just push through professional delayed-ness, or just mental, just bogged down whatever you’re going through. Our goal is to get the community together in a space like this.”
George said the conference does not include breakout rooms, as they aim to keep everyone unified. Despite a waiting list of attendees, there are no plans to expand the conference to a larger venue to maintain its intimate atmosphere.
Tickets for tomorrow’s conference are sold out. However, the chamber announced that tickets for next year’s event will be available in September.
