A newly identified date in the Nancy Guthrie case is drawing fresh attention, with a former NYPD inspector offering insight into what it could mean for the investigation. Speaking on the Wednesday, March 18 episode of Fox & Friends, Paul Mauro suggested the development may point to investigators focusing on a specific individual—while also noting a less encouraging possibility that it’s tied to unresolved forensic evidence.
There are various dates prior to Guthrie's disappearance that have been of interest to authorities, particularly January 11. Guthrie's neighbors have told news personnel, including NewsNation's Brian Entin, that they've been asked to check their home security cameras for footage on a handful of dates prior to Guthrie's Feb. 1 abduction.
January 11 was a date that was previously floated, but the new January 24 date seems to indicate that the suspect or suspects may have been in the area more than once before entering Guthrie's Arizona home. Moreover, authorities have reportedly said that "footage of vehicle traffic is particularly helpful."
"We don't know what that indicates, obviously, but the most hopeful read on it is that they're looking at somebody and that they're trying to place that person or persons in the vicinity at that hour on those dates to see if in fact, they can begin to work backwards," Mauro said on Fox & Friends. "Less hopeful, is let's say they have something in the forensics…that shows some kind of unusual activity that they're trying to hone in on."
Over the past six weeks, the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI have been working diligently to find Guthrie and the person or persons responsible for her disappearance.
Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI (1-800-CALL-FBI).
