The actress and singer shared a very important life update via her newsletter, Beau Society.
On Tuesday, Steinfeld revealed that she recently had her baby shower, which was planned by her mother, Cheri Steinfeld, and took place in the 29-year-old's backyard in Los Angeles.
"On a sunny Saturday in LA, my mom and about 30 women I love so much gathered in my most comfortable place — my backyard — for a baby shower. My mom planned the entire gorgeous thing," she wrote in the second paragraph of her most recent newsletter post. "I sent her a few photos from my ‘Saving this for if I ever have a baby shower’ folder. From a ‘Mother Goose’ reference and a swatch of gingham, she pieced it all together."
Photos of the shower were taken by photographer and creative director Katia Temkin. The Sinners actress stunned in a simple cream Stella McCartney midi dress and a pair of dark brown boots for the event.
"The minute I put it on, it felt like something I’d wear pregnant or not," she wrote. "The key to dressing when you’re pregnant, I’ve found, is trying to wear what you would normally wear (or as close to it as you can)."

— Complex (@Complex) March 17, 2026The "Starving" singer also revealed that her baby shower didn't have a specific theme, but the decor was all gingham-patterned, a design that Steinfeld is "obsessed" with, and all her guests brought a book for the baby.
"Everyone brought a book," she said, “so this baby is building quite the little library.”
The lunch served at the shower was simple — sandwiches, salads, "little grilled cheeses with jam" and "a big bowl of shrimp." There was also a knitting station, where guests were able to knit a square that would soon be sewn together for a baby blanket. This part of the baby shower felt like "a very full circle moment" for the soon-to-be-mother, because her mom learned how to knit while Steinfeld was filming her first movie.
"She was sitting in a trailer all day and needed something to do. It was Sudoku or knitting, and she chose the latter. Our family would joke that she was going to knit the red carpet because she didn’t stop," Steinfeld added. "She taught me how to knit way back when. I can't really cast on or off, but I was able to knit a square to put on this baby's blanket. I felt like I really reopened a fun hobby."

Though Steinfeld and the Buffalo Bills quarterback did not announce a due date, fans are expecting it to be soon, especially since the actress skipped the Oscars last Sunday, despite her movie Sinners making history and being nominated for 16 awards. Her co-star, Michael B. Jordan, acknowledged her absence in his acceptance speech for receiving the award for Best Actor, saying, "Hailee's at home, she's getting ready to have a baby right now. Thank you so much for being the other half of Stack. I love you."
Steinfeld also mentioned the successful night Sinners had over the weekend. The thriller, directed, written and produced by Ryan Coogler, won four out of its 16 awards: Best Original Screenplay (Coogler), Best Cinematography (Autumn Durald Arkapaw), Best Actor (Jordan) and Best Original Score (Ludwig Göransson).
Opening this Tuesday's post, she wrote, "How about Sunday night?? I think I cried the whole show! Between Miles’ performance (with Jayme and Lili AND Misty Copeland???), and Michael, Ryan, and Ludwig winning, then Autumn accepting her Oscar as Ryan ran her son Aiden up the aisle to get a closer look at his mama making history! It was a magical night watching my entire Sinners family shine."
