Vecna/One/Henry Creel actor Jamie Campbell Bowerhas weighed in on the popular fan ship between Mike Wheeler and Will Byers, known as "Byler," nearly three months after Stranger Thingsconcluded.
The series finale of Stranger Things was released on New Year's Eve, and in addition to the emotions that came with the nearly decade-long show coming to an end was a wave of responses to some of the finale's most notable choices. Chief among these for many fans was the fact that Stranger Things did not canonize the Byler relationship.
Although Mike and Eleven had been romantically linked for most of the show, many fans were hoping to see Will (who was clearly crushing on Mike) and Mike end up together. Following Will's coming out scene in Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2, there was increased speculation that the two would end up with one another.
However, the finale came and went with only a very brief conversation between Mike and Will about Will's coming out, in which Mike referred to them as "best friends." There was no happily ever after for the pair, and Will was even shown with a nameless epilogue boyfriend as a type of nail in the coffin for the two.
Nevertheless, at Emerald City Comic Con 2026, which took place from March 5-8 in Seattle, Washington, Bower was asked about his favorite ship in Stranger Things, and after joking that he shipped Karen Wheeler and Vecna together, Bower confirmed, "I ship Byler."

Although Stranger Things was one of Netflix's most popular shows for years, the final season and the finale in particular proved very controversial. Not only the choices the show made about Will and Mike's stories but also other major plot points, such as Eleven's ambiguous fate, had many fans feeling dissatisfied.
In fact, there was so much pushback that a (now disproven) fan theory called Conformity Gate emerged, suggesting that the finale had been a fake and a real conclusion was coming.
