Classic Rock Band Announces Final Tour After 54 Years

After more than five decades on the road, Orleans has announced that 2026 will be its final year as a touring band.

In a message shared with fans, longtime member Lance Hoppen confirmed the decision, writing, “For a variety of reasons, I've decided that this will be the final year for Orleans as a live band. It's not a decision that has been made quickly nor lightly.”

Orleans, formed in 1972 in Woodstock, New York, became one of the defining soft rock acts of the 1970s, scoring hits with songs like "Dance with Me," "Still the One" and "Love Takes Time." Over the years, the band built a loyal following through constant touring and a sound that blended pop, rock and country influences.

Hoppen acknowledged the difficulty of stepping away, noting both the joy of performing and the growing challenges of life on the road.

“On the one hand, I'm sure I will miss the gigs, the fans, the joy of playing this music with this fine band,” he wrote. “On the other hand, the travel has become more and more difficult due to extreme weather, the airlines, rising costs, my increasing age … It's time to turn the page.”

The band plans to remain active throughout the year, with more than 40 shows currently scheduled. Their final run is set to conclude in March 2027 aboard the Rock 'n' Romance cruise, giving fans one last chance to see the group perform live.

Hoppen also took time to reflect on the band’s long history and the people who helped shape it, offering special thanks to founding members John Hall, Wells Kelly and his late brother Larry Hoppen.

“That vote of confidence shaped the course of my life forever after,” he wrote.

Fans quickly responded to the news with messages of appreciation and nostalgia. “Orleans and the Hoppen Brothers will always be in our hearts!!! Thank you for all of the great music and memories!!!” one fan wrote.

Another added, “So many memories tied to the band and your incredible music… We love playing 'Still The One' - always a crowd pleaser! Thanks for all the great music and memories!”

For a band that has spent more than 50 years performing, the end of touring marks the close of a remarkable chapter—one built on enduring songs, dedicated fans and a legacy that will continue long after the final show.
