Thursday, March 19th – Sunday, March 22nd Tokyo Aquatics Center LCM (50m) Meet Central Live ResultsThe 101st Japan Swim kicks off this week, with Tokyo Aquatics Center action taking place Thursday, March 19th through Sunday, March 22nd. The elite domestic affair holds roster-selection implications, with performances here determining the nation’s lineups for both this year’s Pan Pacific Championships as well as the Asian Games.
The Pan Pacific Championships are slated for August 12th-15th in Irvine, California, USA, while the Asian Games are scheduled for September in Tokyo, Japaan.
Key players to the tune of Rikako Ikee, Shiho Matsumoto, Daiya Seto, Ippei Watanabe, Tomoyuki Matsushita, Tomoru Honda and Tatsuya Murasa are scheduled to race this week, while Olympic finalist Mizuki Hirai is absent from the entries with NCAA Championships on the horizon.
The competition is expected to be quite fierce, with some of the world’s top-tier athletes ready to rumble in the hopes of representing the nation at the aforementioned elite meets.
At the moment, Olympic silvere medalist Matushita ranks #2 in the world in both the 200m and 400m IM while teammate Kozushi Imafuku will try to improve upon his 5th-ranked performances in the 800m and 1500m free.
Teenaged Olympic finalist Mio Narita enters this competition raked 4th in the world in the 400m IM, while Genki Terakado will try to improve up0uon his world-ranked butterfly performances.
