WHAT: Township trustees meeting March 10
PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Edward Whittaker and Richard Harkins
Trustees:
• Approved the purchase of two Dodge Durango V6 Pursuits from Crown Dublin for $112,992 using a municipal lease purchase.
• Approved the county engineer and the county commissioners on behalf of the township to advertise for bids for the Watson Marshall Road improvement project, which is an Ohio Public Works Commission project. The project includes culvert installation and filing potholes.
• Announced there are 19 banners available to honor veterans and have them placed in different parts of the township. Total banners to be placed in the township are 52. Program information is available at the township administration building.
• Hired Todd Henry as a full-time police officer effective March 2 and promoted Jacob Gascon from probationary firefighter to firefighter.
• Approved seeking an Ohio Firehouse Public Safety Foundation grant to be used for purchasing lifesaving equipment.
• Secured a $347,000 Ohio Department of Transportation safety funding grant for replacing sidewalks along state Route 46 between Stewart and Seaborn streets.
• Increased the hourly rate for part-time police officers from $18 to $20.
• Secured a Go Green grant from the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District to be used for a community document shredding event, and to purchase and install trash containers at the community park and Kerr Cemetery. The document shredding will be 9 to 11 a.m. May 2 at the community park.
• Recognized firefighter and former fire chief Ken Boring for being named a Tribune Chronicle Community Star and for his 62 years of service to the community.
v Approved the annual Flag Day Festival June 11 to 13 with a parade at 6 p.m. June 12.
• Announced the spring cleanup will be the week of April 27. The scrap tire curbside collection will be April 27 to May 1.
• Announced the annual community garage sales will be June 18 to 20. To sign up, call 330-565-2449.
