Grace Perry Posts Back-To-Back Victories to Close Out Boise Sectionals

Grace Perry wrapped up a weekend of dominant racing with another handful of gold medals on Sunday night at the Boise Sectionals.

    The 15-year-old, who trains with Falfins Swimming in Colorado, kicked off the night with a victory in the 200 IM. She stopped the clock at 2:00.14, knocking over two seconds off of her lifetime best and narrowly securing the win ahead of runner-up Sedona Stratton (2:00.40).

    Perry’s performance landed her at #21 on the list of top times this season in the girls’ 15-16 age group.

    Perry and Stratton went 1-2 again in the very next event, as Perry got her hand on the wall first in the 50 free. She posted a personal best time of 23.06, shaving .35 off her previous best time (23.41) from that morning. Her performance ranks her 45th on the list of top times this season in the girls’ 15-16 age group.

    Stratton, who swims for Sawtooth Aquatic Club, took 2nd behind Perry in 23.39, lowering her personal best time by .2.

    Perry had her hand in another victory on Sunday, as she was a part of Falfins Swimming’s winning 400 medley relay team. She split 53.12 on the fly leg, joining teammates Myra Li, Evie Gray and Bryn Baker to post an overall time of 3:49.12.

    Perry’s wins on the last day of racing brought her total victory tally for the meet up to nine, as she had already won the 100 free (49.84), 200 free (1:47.66), 100 fly (53.31) and 200 fly (2:01.00) and helped bring home the title in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay. With the exception of the 200 free, all of Perry’s individual victories marked personal best times.

    Other Day 4 Winners and Highlights:

    Jacob Furqueron won the boys’ 200 IM in 1:52.76, shaving just .1 off of his lifetime best. The 15-year-old, who trains with Spokane Waves Aquatic Team, was the only competitor in the field to break 1:54. Velocity Swimming’s Sam Hobson prevailed in the boys’ 50 free, posting a time of 20.44 to lower his personal best by .09. Brayleigh Hoisington of Sawtooth Aquatic Club took home the title in the girls’ 1650 free, stopping the clock in 17:16.82. She knocked an impressive 26 seconds off her lifetime best to secure the victory by a margin of almost 16 seconds. Ari Teske of Spokane Waves Aquatic Team won the boys’ 1650 free with a best time of 16:06.76. Not far behind was Orin Meyer, who snagged the runner-up spot in a personal best time of 16:08.69. Both Teske and Meyer dropped over 17 seconds and were the only two swimmers to go under 16:20. The boys’ 400 medley relay went to Avon Swim Club, with the team of Breck Boyd, Brian Molloy, Andrew Molloy and Tyson Boyd turning in an overall time of 3:23.62.
