A Chicago firefighter was severely injured while fighting a building fire in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the city’s Far North Side Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The fire was reported before 12:15 p.m. in a multi-story building along North Shore Avenue near North Ravenswood Avenue. A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson said the injured firefighter was transported to Stroger Hospital in serious-to-critical condition.
Authorities haven’t released details on the firefighter’s injury.
Video posted on the Citizen app showed heavy smoke pouring out of the building’s roof. The fire has since been extinguished.
