Cuttack: BJD President and Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Monday visited the injured victims of the fire that broke out in the Trauma Care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, which claimed at least 10 lives.
LoP Naveen reached the hospital in the evening and met several injured patients undergoing treatment. According to hospital authorities, 11 people sustained injuries in the incident and are currently receiving medical care.
During his visit, the BJD President interacted with the injured patients, enquired about their health condition, and wished them a speedy recovery. He also held discussions with the attending doctors regarding the treatment being provided to the victims.
Naveen later met the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy and conveyed his heartfelt condolences.
Describing the incident as deeply tragic, he said efforts had been initiated during his government to transform SCB Medical College and Hospital into a world-class healthcare institution.
He said that when his government was in power, work had begun to develop SCB into a world-class facility with a plan to complete it within two years. However, even two years after the new government came to power, the work had not progressed as expected.
Several senior leaders of the Biju Janata Dal accompanied the Leader of the Opposition during his visit to the hospital.
