According to the heartwarming gallery of photos, Gaines, her husband Chip Gaines, and their children Drake, 21, Ella, 19, Duke, 17, Emmie, 16, and Crew, 7, spent time doing everything a family could hope to in the Colorado Rockies. Their eldest surprised them by bringing the whole family together for the trip.
The home and area really spoke to the Gaines family in 2024, as Chip was "casually" surveying real estate when he stumbled upon the remote area of the Rocky Mountains.
"From the moment we pulled into the long driveway, it immediately felt like we’d found far more than what we’d been looking for," Gaines wrote in an Instagram post. "It had good bones, the right square footage, but mostly, it felt like a home away from home. While we knew that saying 'yes' to a major renovation project outside of Texas (our first!) would require being stretched beyond our comfort zone, we had a feeling taking on this fixer upper would be worth it in the end."

The Gaines' Woody Creek vacation home and what to do there
In 2024, the Gaines family took their Magnolia Network viewers on the journey with them to renovate their enviable vacation home in Woody Creek, Colorado. Their stunning abode—which has a main home and two guest cottages—is in a small community near Aspen, Colorado and has everything you could want in a family retreat. While the home itself is nothing to overlook, you'd be remiss if you didn't add Woody Creek to your travel bucket list.
The rural Rocky Mountain enclave, situated along the Roaring Fork River, is mostly known for its legendary tavern aptly named Woody Creek Tavern. Being so close to Aspen, there is no bustling downtown area, but the tavern is infamously known as the hangout of Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson.

The small town actually has no accommodations, but nearby towns like Basalt, Colorado and Snowmass Village, Colorado have commercial places you can stay.
