Valerie Bertinelli celebrated the 35th birthday of her son with late rock legend Eddie Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen, on March 16 with a sweet carousel of vintage photos and a touching message.
“Our days of wrastling in the grass may be over, but looking over these pictures one thing is incredibly clear. Every day of my life has had more joy, more fun, more laughter, more meaning, more clarity, and more love because you came into it. The best day of my life was March 16, 1991 and every day since then has been pure magic. I love you to the moon and back. ❤️???,” she wrote in the caption of the post on her official Instagram account.
In the series of photos, a young Wolfie is photographed with his mother, as Bertinelli wrote in the caption, “wrestling in the grass.” The photos are not dated, but young Wolf is missing several of his baby teeth, so we’re guessing they were taken in the mid-to-late ‘90s.
Bertinelli’s fans were quick to compliment the actress on her parenting skills and wish Wolf a happy birthday in the comments.
“You've done a great job ?? ?,” wrote one.
“Just came in from playing in the yard with my girl and seeing this made my heart double in size! ❤️ We always jam to Mammoth on our car rides! Sending so much love to you and Wolfie today! @wolfiesmom ?❤️,” added another.

Although Wolfgang’s father, the legendary Eddie Van Halen, died on Oct. 6, 2020, at the age of 65 from a stroke after battling lung, tongue and throat cancer, he left a forever birthday present for Wolf.

The song “316” was recorded and included on Van Halen’s chart-topping 1991 album For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. Eddie had composed the acoustic instrumental for Bertinelli and Wolfgang prior to his birth. After Wolfgang was born, he named it “316” after their only child’s birthday.
