As the Chicago Blackhawks continue to transition into the next stage(s) of their building process, one of the names that has ascended to the top of the pipeline list is Roman Kantersov.
A second-round pick (No. 44 overall) by the Blackhawks in 2023, Kantserov has played in Russia since his selection. We haven’t been able to watch him on the ice against his Blackhawks prospect peers or North American skaters because of Russia being banned from international competition and his commitment to his KHL club. But his performance this year — historic scoring numbers for a 21-year-old — have made him the most intriguing prospect in the system.
Because of his play being exclusively in the KHL, we’ve also been somewhat limited in what we’ve been able to watch of the Blackhawks’ prospect. I’ve shared clips of his scoring plays whenever they’ve been available, but even that’s limited.

This provides us with a nice look at some longer shifts with discussion about his strengths and weaknesses. Really a must watch for Blackhawks fans looking forward to the organization adding some punch to its top six some time soon.
