Sonic's drink menu is getting a big refresh this year—but don't worry, its famous Ocean Water and Cherry Limeade recipes aren't going anywhere.
Anyone paying attention to the iconic drive-in restaurant chain knows its beverage lineup has been the main focus recently, with the company releasing two limited-time slushes (a Strawberry Horchata Cream and the Sour Shamrock Slush) and testing some even "cooler" coffee-based drinks a few months before that.
Now, it's ready to debut an all-new Refresher line that, unlike its recent slush offers, is heading out permanently and with an energizing boost.
"With Refreshers joining our drink lineup, Sonic continues to be the spot for every drink occasion, giving guests another reason to stop by, sip often and make SONIC part of their daily rhythm," Barbara Williams, vice president of culinary innovation & category management at Sonic, shared in a statement on Monday. "Our Sonic Refreshers are the perfect companion for summer travel and the fun that comes with warmer weather, providing hydration along with a natural, green tea boost."
Sonic's new Refresher lineup offers the "light, feel-good taste of real fruit infused with green tea, creating a refreshing balance of hydration, flavor and natural energy," according to a press release shared with Parade.

The new drinks will be available in three "vibrant" flavors that guests can enjoy as a still or a sparkling beverage.
Strawberry Passion Fruit Refresher: A delicious mix of passion fruit and strawberry pieces, paired with hydrating electrolytes and a natural caffeine boost from green tea.Mango Peach Refresher: A bright fusion of mango and peach fruit blended with hydrating electrolytes and a natural caffeine boost from green tea.Berry Citrus Refresher: A juicy blend of wild berry and blueberry fruit with real lemon, hydrating electrolytes and a natural caffeine boost from green tea.The exact amount of caffeine per Sonic Refresher wasn't immediately clear, but we would estimate it contains around 90 milligrams per serving, based on the caffeine content of standard green teas. That said, many factors (brewing time, type of green tea, etc.) can influence how much caffeine is in the final product, so that it could be slightly more or less.
When Will Sonic's New Refreshers Be Available?
Sonic said its Refreshers will only be available in a 20-ounce size, priced around $2.99 (prices may vary). According to the press release, the new beverage line will be permanently available at Sonic locations nationwide and can be ordered in-person or online via the Sonic App beginning on Monday, March 23.
However, fans who order using the Sonic App can unlock early access to the new, permanent beverage line as early as today (March 16), because as Sonic said, "you earned it!"
