Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal issued a direct hit to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi as their National Cricket Team lost the 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday. Akmal asked Naqvi, “Will you now steal ICC trophies and bring them home?”
The 3rd ODI was a match-winning match for the Shaheen Afridi-led team to claim the series, as, ahead of the match, the series was leveled at 1-1. Despite Salman Ali Agha’s century, the touring team was unable to win the match on March 15.
PCB prepared a new-look team to face Bangladesh, naming multiple uncapped players in the squad. The aim was to test the emerging cricketers, who had done a decent job in the recent past. Still, despite multiple uncapped players in the team, Pakistan was considered the favorite to win the ODI series.
Mohsin Naqvi was reportedly not happy with the team’s performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, as the team was knocked out of the title race before reaching the semi-finals. It was reported that in place of some of their senior cricketers, the board would like to conduct some experiments with a bunch of fresh faces.
Bangladesh could have scored 350
On paper, Pakistan, the away team, was looking strong enough to claim the series. The plans got a major blow when Bangladesh snatched the 1st ODI of the contest. Pakistan bounced back in the second match, making the third a must-win game.
Yesterday, riding high on Salma Ali Agha’s 106-run knock from 98 balls, while chasing a target of 291, Pakistan lost the match, as well as the series. Bangladesh won the match by 11 runs. Kamran Akmal predicted that the result could be worse if Litton Das could bat more aggressively.
“They (Bangladesh) could have easily scored 350 today, but scored only 290. Litton Das played slowly. Even then, we lost,” the ex-cricketer said during a discussion.
Akmal, who served the PCB as a selector, was so furious that he claimed that even a lower-ranked team like Netharlands will love to face Pakistan to get Test playing nation status.
“The condition is such that now even the Netherlands would want to play a series against us, then beat us and get Test status. This is the condition of Pakistan cricket now,” he further added.
Kamran Akmal lashed out at PCB head Mohsin Naqvi
Mohsin Naqvi was slammed brutally by the former cricketer when he took a jab with the ‘steal ICC trophies’ remark.
“If you don't beat teams in matches, will you now steal ICC trophies and bring them home?” Kamran Akmal raised the question.
The PCB head, Mohsin Naqvi, is infamous for taking away the Asia Cup 2025 trophy winners; India refused to accept it from him. Team India is yet to receive the trophy. According to the latest updates, the trophy is still at Mohsin Naqvi’s office.
