The actress shared the sad news with fans and friends on social media on Sunday, March 15, as she announced, "It is with deep sadness that I said goodbye to Pumpkin yesterday," in a sweet tribute to her four-legged friend.
Alongside plenty of great photos from her time with Pumpkin, Hatcher told the story of how he came into her life, saying, "Six years ago when I went looking to adopt a dog, I wanted a senior (because I knew most people would be looking for puppies)."
"So I knew this day would eventually come faster than I’d want it to— but in Pumpkin’s case, it was not before he had the chance to touch so many hearts and comfort so many souls, in ways I could never have anticipated," Hatcher went on.
She talked about Pumpkin's work as a therapy dog and said, "his rock star looks with his cuddly soft fur and loving demeanor were an endless comfort and a true blessing." In the photos, Pumpkin cuddled with Hatcher and her family, while also going on fun adventures, dressing up in outfits, and meeting plenty of new people.
