For years, Bachelor Nation fans could count on a new season arriving the first Monday of January. That didn’t happen in 2026 for two main reasons.
First, ABC and ESPN hold the broadcast rights to the College Football Playoff, including the national championship game, which aired Monday, Jan. 19. Rather than compete with one of the biggest sports broadcasts of the year, the network appears to have delayed the franchise’s return.
Second, ABC reorganized its reality-TV schedule.

Instead of airing The Bachelorette on Mondays, the network shifted the show to Sunday nights beginning this spring.
The move opened Mondays for American Idol, which premiered Jan. 26 and now anchors the network’s Monday lineup. Meanwhile, NBC’s rival singing competition The Voice returned Feb. 23.
In other words, ABC was positioning American Idol directly against The Voice while giving The Bachelorette a fresh night of its own.

Who Is the New Bachelorette?
Season 22 features a notable departure for the franchise: the lead comes from outside Bachelor Nation.
Taylor Frankie Paul is best known as a breakout star of the Hulu reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The Utah-based influencer rose to internet fame during the “MomTok” viral saga and has built a massive TikTok following with her candid storytelling about relationships, motherhood and personal growth.
According to ABC, the 31-year-old single mom is hoping to leave headline-making drama behind and focus on finding lasting love.

ABC has revealed the 22 men who will compete for Paul’s heart this season.

Once the season premieres, new episodes of The Bachelorette will air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu.
