A Chicago police SWAT team was able to rescue a 4-year-old boy during a standoff Saturday night in the Beverly neighborhood.
According to police, a domestic disturbance was reported just before 6 p.m. in the 1800 block of East 95th Street.
Officers were able to escort a woman out of the residence, but a 52-year-old man barricaded himself in a room with a 4-year-old boy and refused to exit.
Just before 10 p.m. SWAT officers entered the residence and safely retrieved the boy, according to police.
The suspect in the case was taken into custody, and charges are pending in the case.
The child was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital as a precaution, and was listed in good condition.
